Vocal Technique Classes

Tuesday Singing Technique Class Series:

  Voyage in Vocal Virtuosity

Want to build up a solid technique from scratch…or refine the one you already have? Whether you’re a professional opera singer or a complete new-comer to singing, Michael’s Voyage in Vocal Virtuosity (VVV) will teach you everything you need to know about how your voice works and how you can reliably access your highest level of skill under any circumstances. These biweekly classes are a highly effective, fun, and relatively low-cost way to take advantage of Michael’s expertise as a master teacher of singing and of the Alexander Technique.

In each class, Michael will guide the group in exercises to develop

  • chest voice/belt
  • head voice/falsetto
  • placement/resonance
  • increased range
  • vibrato
  • full, natural breathing
  • good singing posture/alignment
  • a tension-free technique

You’ll have the chance to sing both as a group and solo. Much of your learning will happen as you observe/listen as Michael works with the other participants. Many singers appreciate the group dynamic and find that it offers benefits not available in private lessons.

While the focus of this class is on technical exercises, you are welcome to bring a passage of music to work on as well. Michael will assist you in applying what you’ve learned in the exercises to performing actual music.
